In order to construct the point data by scanning the three-dimensional shape, a method of rotating the periphery of the object with a single scanner is mainly used. But when this method is impossible according to the application environment, two or more scanners are used to build one full 3D point model through point matching technique. In the paper we propose a method of constructing a 3D model by scanning only the top of an object with single scanner. The scanned top data will be used to make 3D point cloud data by gridizing and waterfall modeling.
